POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TECHNOLOGY OF MILK AND MILK DERIVATIVES
The School of Specialization in Specialization in Hygiene and technology of milk and dairy products addresses the different aspects of the entire milk chain from primary production to the final consumer. The School aims to provide students the knowledge to face holistically the scientific, technical, practical and legal issues of the milk supply chain in light of the production realities of our country and the dynamics of a globalized market.
Specific objectives of the School, in accordance with Ministerial Decree27th January 2006, are to give the Specialists the necessary skills to improve the production efficiency of farms, guarantee the healthiness and quality of primary production, improve the quality of dairy products, while ensuring quality and safety of the final products and, therefore, the consumer’s health.
Specific educational contents of the School relate to:chemistry and technology of milk and dairy products, udder health, immunology, epidemiology, zoonoses, public health, hygienic risk, hygienic management of livestock farms, animal welfare, pharmacosurveillance, and sector regulations.
Finally, the School aims to be a reference source of formation and information on the specific issues of the milk chain.
The School of Specialization in Hygiene and technology of milk and dairy products is a 3-years course. In order to acquire the title of specialist in Hygiene and technology of milk and dairy products, the student must acquire 180 CFU (about 60 per year). Only graduates in Veterinary Medicine can access the School.
