Wild and Exotic Animal Transfusion Laboratory Research (RESELab)
Wild and Exotic Animal Transfusion Laboratory Research (RESELab) has the main objective of promoting the development and research in the field of transfusion medicine of wild and exotic animals.
The RESELab activity has the main focus on blood sampling of wild mammals, particularly carnivores, most of whom are classified as endangered species.
The health and life of each individual is valuable and the values of haematological and haematochemical parameters can provide information about the health and nutrition status of these animals. The knowledge of blood groups, and blood compatibility intra and inter species can allow life-saving blood transfusion in both internal medicine and surgery.
